COVID-19 REGULATIONS FOR ADJUSTED LEVEL 3

Kindly note the following feedback as applicable to the adjusted Level 3 regulations for club training as confirmed at a recent Cricket South Africa Club Coordinators meeting that was held on 19 August 2021:

All protocols must be in place for training sessions. Clubs to be in possession of a temperature meter (thermometers) and on training days clubs must have attendance registers at practices and if matches are played as well. Clubs to submit on a weekly basis their attendance registers to the SWD Cricket office. Screening of player/members who attend training is a must. No juniors and/or spectators are allowed at practises.

I hope that you and your family are well and healthy.

The world is in an unprecedented time and the most challenging of our generation. Cricket South Africa has implemented a four-pillar strategy to manage crisis:

PILLAR 1: SAFETY

The safety of people will be the most important consideration. We are in the process to developing the following protocols that will be available on our website www.cricket.co.za

• Return to work
• Return to training
• Return to play

Cricket is currently in the off-season period and the national lockdown restrictions as they stand, do not allow any sporting activity during level 4.

Consequently, we are in the process of seeking an audience with the Minister of Sports, Arts & Culture to present and then discuss these protocols with him.

Until such time that we secure this engagement with the Ministry and until such time that the lockdown restrictions are relaxed further, please note that as a Federation, we still are unable to resume any sporting activities.

PILLAR 2: USING OUR VOICE

Cricket South Africa is in the process of establishing a Cricket Support Fund. The purpose of this fund will be to safeguard the interests of cricket stakeholders whose livelihoods has been derailed and harmed by the prevalence of the Covid-19 situation. We hope that very soon, we will be able to introduce a structured, regulated and audited mechanism that will allow us, as cricket, to use our voice, to help those who are most vulnerable.

PILLAR 3: ENGAGING WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS

Cricket South Africa aims to engage with all key stakeholders, in order to ensure that our stakeholders are kept abreast with developments in the cricket space, as often as possible.

We encourage you to contact your Affiliate or Manager for any update on the crisis. Even though there is a low level of predictability and as scenarios unfold the strategy will be updated.

We will do a monthly communication to you.

PILLAR 4: ECONOMIC IMPACT OF COVID 19 MITIGATION

This strategic pillar aims to mitigate the negative effects that are related to the financial impact of the crisis. As Cricket South Africa, we undertook a scenario planning exercise to quantify the impact of the time of return to play, if cricket activity resumes within 3-months, versus resumption of cricket activity in 6-months and finally, the after 9-months scenario.

Where possible we have implemented steps to mitigate the projectable negative effect, despite much difficulty, as there is still a high level of uncertainty. To fully appreciate the situation facing us, Cricket South Africa will review the budget in July 2020, as well as in August 2020.

It is a fact that our ability to fund cricket structures will be negatively affected by Covid-19 and the related impact of lack of cricket activity. However, we have made a commitment to ensure that we manage any reduction in funding in a fair and reasonable manner.

SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOUR

My request to you is to please observe maximum safety levels during this time and to act in a responsible way at all times.
