TOUGH BATTLE FOR SWD AGAINST CENTRAL GAUTENG LIONS

Tsepo Ndwandwa
The SWD provincial team will have a tough battle this weekend when the take on the Central Gauteng Lions at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn this weekend. The three-day match will start on Thursday whilst the limited over match will be contested on Sunday.
In their first two three day matches against KwaZulu Natal and Free State respectively the men from the Southern Cape recorded impressive performances but were outplayed at both occasions on the last day to suffer outright defeats. In the one-day competition SWD were victorious against KZN but suffered a one wicket last ball defeat against Free State.
Injuries and exam commitments will have a negative effect on their aspirations for the weekend. Jean du Plessis, Mesuli Vuba, Jhedli van Briesies and Heath Richards (Three Day match) are all unavailable due to exams. Fortunately for the home team Stefan Tait, Richardt Frenz and Herschell America all passed their fitness tests.
On a positive note the team will welcome back spin-bowler Tsepo Ndwandwa who was on duties for the Cobras while the form of former SA U/19 spin bowler, Ndumiso Mvelase, will also be encouraging.

SWD (Three Day): Kirwin Christoffels, Yamkela Oliphant, Richardt Frenz, Brendon Louw, Tyrece Karelse, Neil Hornbuckle, Ndumiso Mvelase, Tsepo Ndwandwa, Renaldo Meyer, Bailey Aarons and Bradley de Villiers and Hershell America (12th man)
Heath Richards, Travis Ackermann, Stegant Tait and Herschell America will be added to the one day squad.
